Today, we had a meeting with Mr. Kasza about all the stuff that's going on in these last few months of school. Between AP Tests, Open campus, graduation, and the performance of Guys and Dolls, these last months are very busy. Even with all this going on, the time is flying by, quicker than you can even believe. It's crazy to think that this is our last year here and next year were all going off to college. This week is the stressful week of drama since our performance is next week. I feel we are all ready though, so lets bring it on!
Personally I am not a fan of the Trout Festival. I am not a fan of the carnival because my feet are always dirty after and the whole atmosphere of the carnival smells like carnival food and vomit. I don't understand how people can spend all weekend on rides. I do however enjoy the whole idea of the actual "Trout" part of it and the fishing competition that goes on, however, this year I couldn't enjoy it because of my Softball tournament and a bridal shower.
For this years trout festival Paul and I will go to the trout festival and go skateboarding around town. well i will be skateboarding and Paul will be on his bike. But after we get back to Paul's house
Trout fest has never really been anything for me, ive always thought it was a rather boring event. I hate amusement rides and overly expensive crappy food. It's just a way to get money into kalkaska. I enjoy the fact we get a half day for it. If you see me at it it's most likely because i decided to check out the vendors. I love flea market sort of things and looking at all the weird and bizarre things they have to offer us.
Hey hey hey! Wyatt is in the house! Guess what this weekend is? It's the 79th Annual Trout Festival! DUH! Whoever lives in Kalkaska and doesn't know that this weekend is Trout Fest weekend, I can't talk to them because this is the weekend where the fun begins. We have a jumping fish AKA a trout in town Kalkaska, pictured below.
It's starts on Friday with the Junior Royale Parade run by the National Honors Society, which I'm a part of. During that time, Amusement Rides and entertainment is available. On Saturday, the Grande Royale Parade begins with a whole bunch of floats and trucks and marching bands, which of course the Kalkaska HS Blazer Marching Band is performing, which I'm a part of again. And Sunday is last day with fireworks. It's going to pretty slick!

That's right, guys and gals! Trout Festival is here for our small Northern Michigan town! We have the parades, McTeacher's Night at McDonald's, the fair, fireworks, and second annual dodge ball tournament. Trout Festival is a time for everyone to celebrate, even for those who don't attend the festivities are full of the energy that is flowing the the town. The start of trout fishing is kind of a big deal in our neck of the woods (if you couldn't tell by our huge trout statue in the middle of downtown). The Friday that the festival begins we have what is called "Trout Friday." On this day the schools lets out all of the students out after only four hours so that they can participate in the town's events for the day. It's a great weekend full of fun for those of all ages.
For me, this year will be different from any other Trout Festival. Even though I am not Miss Kalkaska Queen, being 1st runner-up is turning out to have a busy schedule associated with the title also. I don't plan on attending school at all on Trout Friday due to the brunch that is scheduled for us at the senior center and 10;30. Following this we are to join in the youth parade, and from there the weekend only gets busier. But I'm not complaining, who doesn't like dressing pretty and sporting a freshly-pressed white sash along with a glistening tiara? I am excited to get to know the rest of the Miss Kalkaska 2015 Court during this weekend. The formal lunch on Saturday will be a great time for socializing. I am MOST excited for spending an hour with just the 1st runner-ups at the carnival. From tiny tots to my title, I hope we all share in laughs and memories of this celebrated weekend.
This Trout Fest. will be like every year, cold and wet. But on the upside, I am playing in the Trout Festival Golf Tournament at Timber Wolf. For this, I am very pumped! Usually I look forward to Trout Fest, but the rides are not very fun anymore, and I don't really look forward to it anymore. It is a good source of income for the community though since people come from all over to come to the National Trout Festival.
I feel Trout Festival is a fun event for children because there is plenty of rides for them, a petting zoo, and not to mention a parade with tons of candy getting thrown at them. Trout festival for teenagers and adults though, is a waste of money, especially this year being there are only a handful of rides for teens and adults, and they aren't even the good ones such as the zipper. I feel as if we are going to spend the money on a festival we might as well make it worth the time and money and bring back the fun rides. There are a few good things about trout festival some teens and adults may enjoy such as the 5k, demolition derby, flea market, and the best of it all, the food.
